A note from your Police Community Support Officer

I am Nick Barker, the police community support officer (PCSO) for Knockholt and Halstead. Part of my role is to look at quality of life issues and anti social behaviour in the community. If you have any concerns about this or any other issues that may affect someone’s quality of life then please contact me on 07972 004426 or 01732 379371. Please see security tips below

Below is a series of links to associations within the village and official bodies that work with the Parish Council. As an example, Kent Highways is developing a portal on which you can report problems, such as potholes and street lighting issues in Bond Close and Waylands Close. Lighting problems in other roads should be reported to the Clerk.

We are pleased to offer links on this page to all local Knockholt businesses free of charge
Please contact Doreen Jones, the Clerk, if you would like a link to your business or association. Clerk@knockholtparish.org.uk

Security tips:

Vehicle crime reduction advice

Vehicle crime often happens when people leave their belongings on display for others to see.

  • Remove your portable sat nav even if you are only leaving your car for a minute or two.
  • Wipe away suction marks from your windscreen.
  • Don’t hide valuables in your boot or glove compartment – these are the first places a thief will look.
  • Don’t leave car keys visible through doors and windows at home.
  • Don’t keep your car keys in an obvious place like a handbag, hall table or kitchen drawer.
  • Do keep your car in a locked garage if you can.

Home security advice

Around 31% of burglaries take place at night or at the weekend.

  • Always lock your windows and doors, especially when leaving the house.
  • If you go out during the hours of darkness it’s a good idea to leave a light on, or use timer switches to activate them while you are out. This gives the impression that somebody is at home.
  • A burglar alarm is a good deterrent – it’s worth getting specialist advice and quotes from several reputable companies.
  • Never leave your spare key in a convenient hiding place such as under a doormat or flowerpot. These are the places that thieves will look first. Instead, consider leaving a spare key with a friend or neighbour.
  • Consider installing outside security lighting.
  • Make sure garden sheds are secured properly with a strong padlock
